Jenny Groom Swaps ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Desk for Head of MGM Alternative at Amazon

Jenny Groom, a veteran of both BBC Studios and NBCUniversal, has been named head of MGM Alternative at Amazon MGM Studios. In her most recent position she was EVP of Unscripted Development at BBC Studios, where she helped oversee productions such as *Dancing with the Stars*.

At Amazon, Groom will report to Jenn Levy, the head of nonfiction for Amazon MGM Studios, and will take over a portfolio that was previously managed by Barry Poznick.

The move marks a clear shift from the world of dance‑show production to overseeing a slate of alternative, non‑fiction and genre‑blending content for Amazon’s newly integrated MGM Alternative division.

While the industry will no doubt watch to see how Groom’s background influences the studio’s direction, the announcement itself is straightforward: a seasoned executive is stepping into a role that promises to broaden Amazon’s alternative content offerings.
