Pullman Five to Pull the Swans' Strings – and Possibly Their Socks

Pullman Five to Pull the Swans' Strings – and Possibly Their Socks

The Swans’ top brass have, with the solemnity of a council meeting, summoned the entire playing group to the club’s headquarters. The reason? A visit from the Pullman Five, a mysterious consortium of five designers from the world of luxury sleeper trains.

According to the club’s internal memo, the Pullman Five will address the team on the ‘importance of ergonomics’ – a topic that has never, and probably will never, be on the agenda of a Victorian football club. Players, who have spent their lives worrying about the weather changing its mind on the tram lines, were instead asked to contemplate the shape of their shoulder pads.

“Nothing quite like a Pullman bed to make you feel like you’re on a tram that’s been replaced by a submarine,” one player is said to have muttered as he shuffled past the conference room. The Pullman Five, in turn, promised to unveil a new line of ‘athletic sleepers’ that would revolutionise post‑match recovery.

By the time the session concluded, the Swans were left with a stack of glossy brochures and a collective decision: the next time the weather turns from rain to heat, they’ll simply roll out a Pullman bed on the training ground.

The city’s trams may still change their minds, but at least the Swans now have a new way to keep their socks from turning into a dry‑cleaning crisis.

if this one landed.
