Gosport protest erupts into flare‑filled chaos, 12 arrested

An anti‑migrant protest erupted on Gosport’s seafront after a migrant boat arrived in the town.

Residents gathered to voice concerns, but the demonstration was punctuated by flares that lit up the evening, turning the scene into an impromptu fireworks display.

Police reported that flares were set off and a few scuffles broke out before twelve participants were arrested.

Authorities noted that the protest was driven by worries about local resources, while the flares provided the only literal fireworks.

The incident highlights how quickly a local protest can shift from a peaceful gathering to a spectacle when pyrotechnics are introduced.
