OpenAI Safety Leader Quits, Calls Company Culture ‘Broken’

OpenAI Safety Leader Quits, Calls Company Culture ‘Broken’

OpenAI’s senior safety lead has left the company, saying the internal culture is “broken” and that the firm is moving too fast on AI development.

In a terse internal memo, the departing executive wrote that OpenAI “is not being nearly careful enough” as it pushes new versions of its models.

The resignation follows other recent departures from OpenAI, including that of David Robinson, and adds to calls from insiders for the firm to prioritize safety.

Industry observers see the exit as a reminder that rapid AI progress is raising serious safety concerns across the sector.
