Meghan’s ‘The Bench’ Bids for $38K, Then Vanishes Like a Royal Riddle

Meghan Markle’s novel *The Bench* was advertised on eBay for a staggering $38,000, with a claim that Princess Eugenie had signed it.

The listing’s hook was an oddly detailed illustration on the cover: a throne that, upon closer inspection, looks more like a sofa with a crown‑shaped cushion.

Bidders were so enamored that some offered more than the asking price, convinced they were buying a piece of aristocratic history.

But as the bidding war reached a fever pitch, the eBay page vanished, as if swallowed by a black hole, leaving no seller explanation or apology.

Rumours swirled: was the book a forgery, a private joke, or had Princess Eugenie herself spirited it away for a private reading?

A quick look at eBay’s public records shows the listing was active for exactly 72 hours – the perfect window for a prankster to claim victory and walk away.

The book’s original publisher issued a statement saying they had no knowledge of the sale and were “surprised” by the sudden interest in a royal signature.

Collectors are now scrambling to find any trace of the missing copy, turning to auction houses and private collectors, but the only evidence is a faint digital watermark that appears only when the screen is tilted at 73 degrees.

If the book did indeed disappear, one can only hope it ended up in a comfortable armchair somewhere, perhaps sipping tea with a cucumber sandwich, as befitting a title.

if this one landed.
