Stanfield Teases ‘Molepeople’ at Comic‑Con, Promises Underground Terror

Oscar‑nominated LaKeith Stanfield and Emmy‑winner Ben Mendelsohn preview the upcoming horror thriller ‘Molepeople’ at New York Comic‑Con, with a release slated for August 2027.

A man in a rat‑sized suit slithered onto the Comic‑Con stage and whispered that the only thing scarier than a subway delay is the darkness below Manhattan’s streets.

The duo announced “Molepeople,” a film directed by Rob Savage and produced by Atomic Monster and Paramount Primal, that follows a lone figure descending into abandoned New York tunnels.

Stanfield, still clutching his Oscar‑nomination trophy, teased that the film will be an “underground experience” that will make you check your phone for signal in the middle of a tunnel.

The preview was accompanied by a mock‑up of the tunnel set, complete with flickering lights and a sound system that played the collective sighs of commuters stuck on a late‑night train.

Fans in the audience, armed with glow‑sticks and popcorn, responded with a roar that sounded suspiciously like the echo of an arriving subway train – a fitting soundtrack for a movie about subterranean terror.

Paramount Primal confirmed the film will hit theaters in August 2027, giving horror fans plenty of time to practice their “don’t‑look‑down” breathing technique.

When asked what to expect, the panel promised that the tunnels in ‘Molepeople’ will be darker, longer, and more Wi‑Fi‑deprived than any other film.
